Will of George F. Smith

COPY OF THE WILL OF GEORGE F. SMITH, RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, TIOGA COUNTY, PA.

December the 29,1887. In the name of God amen I, George F. Smith, being of the township of Rutland, county of Tioga, and state of Penna, being in reasonable good health and of sound and disposing mind and memory and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I have strength and capacity so to do, I do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and first I commit my soil to God who gave it and as to such worldly goods and chattels and estates as it has pleased Almighty God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, viz; The farm where I now live, of one hundred acres, known as the Aaron Squars farm in Rutland, I leave to my wife, Milly, her natcheral life and then to Anna R. Smith, my daughter and her children if she hase any and, if not, to go to the children of her brothers and sisters. And the adjoining farm of about eighty six acres, nown as the Welch Farm, that I give to my Daughter Effie, her natcherl life and then to go to her children if she has any and if not to go to her brothers and sisters children. And I give Fifteen hundred Dollars in cash to my Daughter Effie Smith to be paid out of my Personal Property. And I give all of my house hold goods to my yungest Girls after my wife Milly is done with them. And I give to my son George F. Smith, Jr. the William Goodwin farm in Rutland and that shall be his whole intrust in my estate. I give Nemiah Smith the use of the Rheuben Squares Farm his natcherl life providing he improves the farm to the amount of seventy five dollar a year and pay all taxes and also the to small lots on the west, one the George McConnel lot and the Lawrence Wood lot. And I give to Augusty Douds two children, a boy and girl, there names is Howard and Mary Augusty, the Melvin Horton Farm. And I give Emmy K. Smith the Elsworth Farm. And I give Westley Smithe the Daniel Wood Farm . And Westley Smith must pay to Sallyans two girls names Cora Smith and Frankey Smith, the sum of six hundred dollars each. And I give Gm. Manley Smith the Lanterman Farm and Gm. Smith must pay to Mary Jane Squariss, my Daughter, Eight hundred Dollars for her own individual use. And I give my wife the choice of Foure cows. The cows and Farm above mentioned shall be her intrest in my est and what money I have and have standing out and Personal Property after settling all Funeral expenses and Debts I want my two yungest Girls to have and be divide equally. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint G.M.Smith of Solavan Township Tioga County and L.C.Benson of Rutland Tioga County, Penna. Executors of this my will and declare this only to be my l;ast will and testament in witness whereof I the said testatrus have to this my Last will and testament set my hand and seal the 29 day of December A.D. George F. Smith (seal)

Signed sealed published and declared by the said testatrus as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who in his presance and at his request and in the presence of each other have susscribed our names as witnesses thereto. F. M. Lawrence L. C. Benson

Form of a Codicil or Supplement to a will disposing of Personal Property.

I, G.F.Smith the within named testator do hereby now make and publish this codicile to be added to last will and testament bearing date the Dec 29, 1887, in manner following to wit, I give and bequeath to Gm. Manley Smith the eight hundred Dollars that said Manley Smith wose to pay Miss Mary Jane Squarse and the said Mary Jane Squars is to have eight hundred Dollars in cash out of the undivide money and I also dont want Give and bequeath to Westley Smith the tow,note or amounts of six hundred each that said Westley smith was to pay to Sallyans two Daughters, there names Cora Smith and Franke Smith. And I further give the three barnes and land on the east side of road leading to Mansfield to G.F.Smith, Jr. And I give the use of house and land in Roseville Borough to my wife Milly her natcherl life and then I give it to my Grandson L.Roe Smith. I hereby revoke that close where it says that the Personal Propperty & money that was to be divided between my youngest girls shall at my death be equaly divided between my wife and all of my Children living.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12 Day of February 1896 in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety six. George F. Smith (seal) Signed sealed published and declared by the said testatrus as and fore his last will and testament in the presance of us who in his presance and at his request and in the presance of each other have subscribed our names as witness thereunto. State of Pennsylvania) County of Tioga ) ss: I, Homer J. Ripley, Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration in and for said County, do certify the above and foregoing to be a true and full copy of an original Will with one Codicil, duly proved as required by law, and remaining of record in my office. Witness my hand and the seal of said office, at Wellsboro, this Twenty-third day of March, 1896. Homer J. Ripley, Register
