Dear Joyce – This was the original “Glider Field” House and was purchased for $500.00 cash, by my grandfather Ellsworth Cowan Pease in 1934. He lived in that house on Harris Hill till his death in 1976. I then lived in it for another 20 years after HIM! Submitted by Alice PEASE Hartford
State of New York, County of Chemung
ELLSWORTH C. PEASE being duly sworn deposes and says, that he resides at R.F.D. #1, Elmira, in the Town of Big Flats, County of Chemung and State of New York.
That on or about the 16th day of July 1934 deponent purchased from one M. Emma Bowen by Warranty Deed dated that day and duly recorded in the Chemung County Clerk’s Office on the 30th day of October 1934 in Liber 285 of Deeds at page84 certain lands situate in the said Town of Big Flats, Chemung County, New York included among such lands being the following described premises, viz: -
All
that Tract or Parcel of land situate in the Town of Big Flats, County of
Chemung and State of New York, described as follows; - A triangular piece
of land situate on the east side of the road running to the “Timothy Rhoads”
Farm; Bounded on the north by lands of the John Rhoads Estate; on the south
by B.W. Smith and on the west by the highway and being the same premises
conveyed to Milton F. Terpening, now deceased, by deed recorded in Book
219 of Deeds at page 162 in the Office of the County of Chemung.
The within described premises are situate immediately north of premises
conveyed to said Milton F. Terpening by deed recorded in 221 of Deeds at
page 73 in the office of the Clerk of the County of Chemung.
That said premises are the same premises conveyed to Charles Johnson by Hans Peterson and wife by deed dated March 24th 1896 and recorded in the Chemung County Clerk’s Office on the 24th day of June 1896 in Liber 102 of Deeds at page 289.
That your deponent entered into full possession of said premises on the 16th day of July 1934 and has at all times since that date been in complete, open, undisputed and adverse possession said said land against ant and all persons to the date of this affidavit.
