Jan. 1 – Snows all day wind in the north. Work in the mill on fixing
drag-saw and finish fixing books. So commences the new year, both of us
in good Health for

Jan. 14 – Dedication of new disciple Church Smithfield Center.

Jan. 16 – Receive a notice of being elected Township Auditor for 3 years from date at the Election held yesterday.
Jan. 17 – Mrs. Joseph Morley died.

Jan. 19 – Old Mrs. Satterly died
Jan. 20 – Isadore & I attend a donation at Burlington Boro for the Rev. F. M. Smith, pleasant time. Mrs. Edwin Blakeslee died.

Jan. 22 – Isreal Philips Father died.

Jan. 25 – Hear that at 1 o’clock yesterday morning a fire was discovered in (??) store, Troy, Pa, which spread and burned all the buildings from Pomeroys new bank to school-house on Canton St. Loss covered, estimated at $150, 000.00. a heavy insurance.
Jan. 26 – Visiting at C. B. Riggs with Hester, Ophelia & Isadore.

Feb. 7 – Sunday School at Burlington Boro 3 anniversary Rev. R. Crittenden exhibits models of the ancient grist mills & altar of the tabernacle large turnout. Isadore at home with sore throat.

Feb. 17 – Attend my sisters Hester A. Bourne wedding. She was married to Chas W. Smith who is now of Elizabeth City, N. C. formerly of East Smithfield, Brad. Co., Pa. Married at 3 p.m. Start for North Carolina at 6 p.m. We all feel bad to see them start.

Feb. 20 – Hear from Hester who is in Philadelphia. Expect to start for Elizabeth City, N. C. on Monday to arrive there Tuesday morning.

Feb. 25 – Isadore & I go to Waverly, N.Y. to get our organ of Mason & Hamlins make (???). Send from N.Y. City by T. R. Beardsley. Price $170.00, Freight $4.40. Isadore calls at S. W. Millers. She gets quite cold going out.

March 4 – Mrs. Captain Usher (?sp) died

April 24 – Hear that P. B. Pratt was run over by the cars near Southport, N.Y. very badly cut to pieces, head cut into & neck and leg broken. Funeral tomorrow in Masonic order had his life inshured for $10,000.
April 25 – We go to the funeral of P. B. Pratt, buried with Masonic order, a large turn out of Masons and neighbors, pleasant.

Aug. 7 – Sun eclipsed 10/12 of it covered the largest astronomers say will occur in several years. Nearly dark at 5:15, ended about sunset

Aug. 9 – Father, Wesley & Hester Lee & Ophelia and Isadore & myself go to Towanda and take the cars at Ulster a pleasant day. Get Photographs taken (group).

Aug. 11 – Visiting Wesley & Hester start for North Carolina.
Aug. 12 – Catch 1 eel in the mud with my hands. Weight 4 lbs 1 oz the largest one I ever say. Offered one dollar for him on the spot.

Oct. 25 – Hear that Mr. A. H. Seward died yesterday of Lock-Jaw caused by the cutting off ¼ of an inch off his thumb with a circular saw at Bloods Foundry Athens, PA. How frail the Thread of Life.
