We now have a local history museum in Mansfield representing the area in and near Mansfield including Richmond, Sullivan, Rutland, Covington, Tioga and more
Visit the History Center on Main Street at 83 North Main Street where our library resources are housed. We also have a museum location at 61 North Main Street.
Regular hours are noon to 3 T, W Th or by appointment. Extended Summer Hours

Jan. 1 – Posting Book. Snow & rains all day. Thermometer at 34

Jan. 2 – Thermometer at 40 in the evening. James Wheat, Alfred Wheat & Geo. Bouels (?sp) of Warren and their wives are here visiting.

Jan. 9 – Dedication of the new M. E. Church at Canton, Brad. Co., Penna. Father & mother gone.

Feb. 2 – Anniversary of 2nd year of the Union S. School. Speaking by Rev. R. Crittenden Co Missionary.

Feb. 4 – One letter to H. A. Weed, 1 to Brainard & Sampson. Receive papers from Senator Langdon.

Feb. 24 – Go to a Wood Bee for E. Sweet no one out around home rest of day. Isadore with Hester to Thomas Blackwells. Father meets auditors. Receive Bible House catalogue.

Feb. 25 – President Johnson arrived for impeachment by Congress, great Stir in Washington.

Feb. 27 – S. W. Miller & wife make a call things are all (??) at Washington. Isadore not very well.

Feb. 28 – Go to Smithfield for Dr. Cowell. Isadore quite sick with the fever (Bilious)

Feb. 29 – Go to Smithfield for medicine. Isadore about the same. Roads drifted very badly.

May 26 – Lonora Pearce of Smithfield died this morning. Mr. Robinson commenced digging cellar for the house.

June 5 – Received Family Bible in afternoon cost of bible $9.00 (freight .75 cents)

July 4 – Hoeing potatoes in forenoon, in afternoon take Isadore down home go up to quarterly meeting to the old Church, appointed (??) Steward at the quarterly conference. Thermometer at 100.

July 5 – Attend quarterly meeting at the Old Church preaching by the P. C. very warm. Thermometer at 99

July 7 – Isadore finish taking music lessons, ½ term.

July 23 – Haying most of the day very little rain in afternoon, heavy showers in Smithfield with hail destroying all crops as far as it extended, hail washed in road 1 foot deep.
