Joyce's Search Tip - January 2008
Do You Know that you can search just the 250 pages of Church Records and Histories on the site by using the Churches button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the Current What's New Page? .
Joyce, this is the site of the former United Methodist Church in Millport, NY.  Currently it is serving as the Millport Community Center, so at least the building is being utilized.  I am going to be calling upon a woman who was Baptized at the Church.  She tells me that the Church was opened or founded about 1832 and closed in 1985.  I hope to have more information to add to this Church's description on the site.  As soon as I do I will send it along.  Tim

Sullivanville Church
Joyce - this photo is of the former Baptist Church near Sullivanville.  This Church was originally located on the East Sullivanville Road.  It was moved using horses and logs to this location on what was once old Route 13N.  It was moved in the late 1800's.  It was then used an a general store for years.  This was called Wilkins Store and it closed in the late 1950's.  Alva D. and Nellie TOBEY Wilkins from Caton, NY purchased the store in 1935.  He died in 1941, she in 1966.  They carried a little bit of everything, groceries, feed, coal, etc. and the store was a meeting place for the townsfolks at times too.  The store is still standing in Sullivanville but is much neglected.  I am trying to find more of the history of the Church and will send what I find later on.  Tim
