Horacetown's existence in our area was very, very brief. It was incorporated as a separate political unit 19 February 1840 and lasted just long enough to have one census and one tax assessment taken, before going home to its mother, Lawrence Township. Below is what we can learn from our 1883 Tioga County History about this short lived borough.

1841 - Borough of Horacetown with twenty-seven taxables reverts to Lawrence Township from which it was formed in 1840
