Scout commended for Eagle project in
Smithfield
By: Charles Schillinger 09/08/2004
Towanda Daily Review
SMITHFIELD - Township Supervisors commended Brett Teeter following the completion of a year-long Eagle Scout Project which changed the look of Turnpike Cemetery. "It was a fantastic job," said Supervisor Chairman Jon Allford.
Teeter cut down the brush surrounding the cemetery, took out the wire
fencing and put in a split-rail fence with corner posts. They started in May
2003 and after 150 man hours went into the project, the project was completed
in August. Of the 150 man hours, almost 50 were spent staining and hand
chiseling the sign at the now visible entrance to the cemetery.
Brett acknowledged he was quite proud of the effort. His father, Jesse
Teeter, was also quite proud of the project, adding that Brett would be his
second son to become an Eagle Scout once the paperwork was finished. He said
his other son, Chris Teeter, set headstones up in the cemetery and put a
foundation under them. "Let me tell you I am impressed - a very, very good
job," Supervisor Zane Chamberlain told Brett during the meeting.
