Daniel Carnwright, a respected resident for many years of Armenia township,
was instantly killed by lightening about 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon.
He had been helping his son in haying near Columbia X Roads. The severe
storm had driven himself, his son and Robert Nelson to the barn. Edward
had been called by his wife to the house. In the course of perhaps twenty
minutes he returned to the barn and found his father dead and Nelson unconscious.
While that latter rallied, his condition is still serious. He suffers much
pain. Two sons survive- Edward and John with the latter of whom on the
edge of Armenia mountain, the deceased made his home. Rev. Early conducted
the funeral from the home Wednesday forenoon. Burial was in the Case cemetery.
