Joyce's Search Tip - December 2007 -
Do You Know that you can search just the Bradford County Cemetery Records on the site by using the Cemeteries -Bradford button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the Current What's New Page? If you use that partition follow these steps to search just one cemetery
1. Choose Cemeteries - Bradford.
2. Enter part of the cemetery name [ie Ballard or Berrytown] AND a surname.
3. Choose the Find ALL Words option. Then it will find just the pages with that surname in the one cemetery you indicated.

Dear Joyce,

I happen to locate my Great, Great, Great Grandfather's place of rest.

His name was Andrew Curtis Brainard, born 9/1/1811 in Litchfield, to Darius Brainerd/Brainard and Tamar Williamson. He died 11/15/1884 in Windham, Bradford Co.,PA and is buried on a hill at the corner of Cleveland and North MacAfee Roads. I have not located his wife Jane Degroff/Degraff yet, but still looking.  Andrew and Jane had 9 children, daughter Fannie Madie b.abt 1846 , married Henry Clay Armstrong, they had 10 children, daughter Edithia Jane ( twin to Edith Julia ) b. 3/8/1875 married William Burton Randolph, they had 4 children daughter Maggie Mae ( Margaret) b. 3/11/1893, married Reuben Randolph.  Margaret and Reuben are my grandparents.

Dear Joyce,
I continue to enjoy your Tri County web site,  looking for any new items you have for Bradford County,  especially for Windham and Wilmot Townships.
A friend and neighbor,  Beth French,  who shares with me an interest  in local history, lives on French Road,  which starts in Windham Twp. and continues west and connects into N. Macafee Road in Litchfield Twp.  Among the Windham Cemetery  listings on your Web site,  you have a recent letter regarding an Andrew Brainard being buried on a hill in a cemetery at the corner of Cleveland and N. Macafee Road.   The letter stirred Beth's and my interest,  as she knew where this cemetery was.  We decided to go there and trace the stones as best we could.  This cemetery is located in Litchfield Twp., not Windham Twp.
The picture of the stone that Candy sent to you shows one of the very few that is legible and upright.  Most of the stones are tipped over, broken,  and unreadable.  But we copied what we could make out.  A little info such as questionable letters in names,  I obtained from  the Litchfield censuses.  Guess a little is better than none!
Incidentally,  I've also emailed Candy, at the email address from her letter to you, to introduce myself and to tell her what we found.
As in previous contacts with you,  I don't have the capability to copy this cemetery listing on the format you need.   Thus I am wondering if you have Pat Raymond or someone available to do so?  I will send info for this cemetery in another email.  Uncertain,  but I don't believe that there is a name for this cemetery.
                                                                       Sincerely,
                                                                        Florence Ellis

P.S.  Incidentally,  my email address has been changed since previous correspondence with you.  It is now:  g18837f@epix.net
