Hi Joyce,
I am sending another old landmark of Liberty.  It was Sawyer's store.  It continued to be used up until about 1990 believe, it was then used as a restaurant, and are not sure what is used for today.  It is still standing and was a gathering place for the locals.
I'm also sending a picture all Frank and Walter Sawyer.  They were the owner operators for many many years.
It was their grandfather and father and that in the old ledgers that I got last summer.  I think I brought some of them over to you. (They are in Joyce's Sullivan township Museum)  That's just a matter of interest.

Regards, Esther

The old established hardware store of M.M.WERLINE at Liberty has changed hands.  Mr. Werline  has sold his interests to the Snyder Bros. of that place.  The latter men have taken possession and will continue the business. The store is one of the oldest in that section, having been established by Mr. Werline's father about 40 years ago.

Liberty Landing Strip

Dear Joyce,
Attached is a picture of the first airplane that landed on the Liberty landing strip, at Liberty, PA.  Perhaps you could post it to your site, as a lot of people have asked about the landing strip and if planes really did land there.  The landing strip now of course is all built up.  It was just below the present-day Liberty school.  It is Myra Kehler and daughter Lucille standing beside the plane.  The person on the plane is Elmer Krise. Lucille is the woman who was just killed in the accident at Liberty (April 2006).  The picture was taken by Walter Kehler, Lucille's father.
