CHAPTER XXXIX.
THE CHEMUNG CIVIL LIST.
The Servants of the People in the Nation, in the State, on the Bench, and in the County.
For a period of forty-five years Chemung County formed an important integral part of Tioga County, its citizens filling the positions of honor and trust of the old county, as will be seen in the preceeding history of Tioga as the earlier organization. Since 1836 the citizens of Chemung have filled official positions in the nation, the state, on the bench, and in the county, as will appear in the following civil list of the county:
