MANNING FAMILY BIBLE RECORDS

Transcribed from the Manning Family Bible in the possession of Gwen Mecum Hunt.

This Bible was brought to California from Elmira Heights, New York in 1952 where it had been in the possession of my Great Grandparents, Lee T. and Emma (Skinner) Manning and my mother, Constance Manning Mecum of Elmira. Lee Manning was the son of James and Mary Manning contained herein.

John L. Manning was born in the town of Clinton, Duchess County, NY August 28, 1773.

He moved to Danby, Tompkins County NY in 1824. He experienced religion in 1834 and joined the Methodist Church the same year. He was elected steward and performed the duties of the office six years till 1840 when he moved to the town of Candor, Tioga County. In 1841 he moved to North Danby. In 1848 he again moved to the town of Candor where he was chosen Class Leader and held the office five years. In 1862 he moved to South Danby.
 

Letty Manning was born in the town of Poughkeepsie, Duchess County, NY on September 1, 1788.

She experienced religion in the town of Clinton, Duchess Co. In 1812 and joined the Presbyterian church the same year. She moved into Danby, Tompkins County in 1824 and joined the Methodist Church in 1834.

Jane Manning was born January 2, 1806

Charles Manning was born February 14, 1808

Mahitable Manning was born Nov. 2, 1810

Joseph Manning was born November 10, 1812

Anna Manning was born November 27, 1814

James Manning was born August 10, 1816

Harriet Manning was born March 8, 1818

Maria E. (Mary Eliza) Manning was born August 31, 1820

Charlotte Manning was born November 30, 1822

Susan V. Manning was born March 14, 1825

DEATHS:
 

Letty Manning died January 12, 1861, aged 72 years, four months, and 12 days.

John and Letty Manning lived together 56 years, 10 months, 12 days.

Charles Manning died November 26, 1839

Anna V. Cain died October 19, 1845

Harriet Tobias died May 3, 1852

James Manning died in 1882, was 66 years old when he died.

Charlotte Nelson died March 9, 1852

Susan Manning died May 16, 1856
