These menus are from local establishments includiing Mansfield, Troy, Wellsboro, Elmira. This collection was inspired by the work of Frank Buttles, who was born in Mansfield in 1845 and graduated from the Mansfield State Normal School in 1866. She followed a teaching career in New York City and over many years collected 25,000 menus from around the world. She donated these to the New York Public Library and they form the foundation of their menu collection to this day.
