Flagholder Introduction and Table of Contents

The Auxiliary to the BRT was formed in 1889. While I have found numerous examples of the BRT flagholder, I find many fewer examples of the auxiliary. The handshake inside an eight pointed star is the insignia. 1889, the founding date, is in the lower part of the older marker.

. Both the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainsmen and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, as well as other related organizations, merged in 1969 to become the United Transportation Union.

This rusty flagholder includes an eight pointed star
and a fraternal handshake
This newer flagholder has reduced the points in the star
to six, but still incorporates the handshake. Note the
change in the cuffs to a style more likely that of women.
