1820 William Pepper deed to Elisha Carpenter

This indenture made the Twenty first day of June
in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty between
William Pepper of Towanda Bradford Country and state of Pennsylvania, yeoman
of the one part and Elisha Carpenter of the county and state aforesaid
of the other part witness that the said William Pepper for and in consideration
of the sum of four hundred and seventy eight dollars to him in his hand
paid by the said Elisha Carpenter at and before the sealing and delivering
hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and thereof acquit and
forever discharge the said Elisha Carpenter his heirs and administrator
by these presents have granted, bargained, sold, alienee "orferred" released
and confirmed by there presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, "unproff"
release and confirm unto the said Elisha Carpenter and to his heirs and
assigned all that "mlandage" and tract of land bounded as follows: is Beginning
at a black ash standing on the bank of sugar creek thence S 75 degrees
W 3 degrees to a hemlock. Thence N59E 1 by "degree" 3 to a chestnut oak
N32 dg W59.5 to a post thence N5gE199.3. Thence N40E11.6 Thence N16 (lower
case r?) #24.7. Thence N 18 W11. Thence W 36W9.5 to the place of the beginning.
Together will all and "regular" other the houses, outbuildings,
barn, stables, "ways", water, watercourses, rights, liberties, privileges,
horeditamins and apportounces whatsoever there to belonging or in acquinse
apportaining and the revision and remainder rents, issues and profits thereof.
And also all the estate right to the interest property, claims, and "demand"
whatsoever of the said William Pepper on law or equity or otherwise howsoever
is to or out of the same. To have and to hold the said "message or testament"
and tract of seventy six acres, one road and thirty two perches of land
"handeltaments" and premises hereby granted or mentioned or intended so
"labeled" with the appurtances unto the said Elisha Carpenter, his heirs,
and assign to the only proper use and behoof of the said Elisha Carpenter
his heirs and assign forever quit claiming. In witness whereof the said
parties to these presents have hereunto set their hand and seal the day
and year aforewritten, William Pepper(seal) sealed and delivered in the
presents of Oziah Bingham, Garner Carpenter____Bradford Co. (seal) June
twenty first eighteen hundred and twenty personally appeared before the
Justice of the Peace in and for said county. William Pepper a party to
the within indenture and acknowledged the same to be his "lot" and deed
and desired that it should be recorded as such according to the law. Witness
my hand and seal the day and year of (blank) Justice of the Peace.
