Burial site has not been found-Children were buried in Glenwood Cemetery Troy, Pa.

Was the first settler of Troy, Pa. In 1801. The first board-roofed house
in the township was erected by Gen Elihu Case in 1798. The first house
in the borough was built by Timothy Nichols, father-in-law of E Case in
1800. Nichols sold to Elihu Smead, who previously had resided at the foot
of Armenia Mountain, on Smead Creek. Lived where the Presbyterian
Church is today (2001). Smead Creek runs behind the church under Ballard
Street.

In the name of God Amen! Elihu Smead of Troy Township, Bradford County and State of Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding, (Praise the God for it) am considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end. I may be the better prepared to leave this world, whenever it should please God to call me hence, do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament and manners following; that is to say first and principally I command my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping for grace pardon and omission of all my sins, and to enjoy everlasting happenings in the heavenly kingdom through Jesus Christ my savior; my body I commend to the earth to be interred at the discretion of my executors herein after naming and as to such worthy estate where with it has pleased God entrust me I dispose of the same as following, I will that all my just debts as shall be by me oweins at my death to go there with my funeral expenses, and all charges touching the privacy of one otherwise concerning this my will shall in the first place out of my personal estate in defects hopefully now and from ever after. Payment thereof and subject thereto then my will is that my beloved wife Elenor have a reasonable support so long as she shall remain my widow. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Roxana Butterfield one dollar, and unto my two sons Reuben and Francis Smead one dollar each, and also unto my daughter Elenor Peters, wife of Junebeth Peters one dollar-and I give and bequeath unto Orrin Miller one plough, one harrow and one chain. I give and bequeath unto my son Elihu Smead Jr and Luana Smead my daughter all my lands to be equally parted and divided between them share and share alike.
And I make or ordain Reuben Wilber and Churchill Barnes executors my last will and testament.
And witness whereof I the said Elihu Smead to this my last will and
testament have hereunto set my hand and seal, declaring it to be my last
will and testament. Dated the 27th day of September One thousand
eight hundred twenty four signed sealed and acknowledged by the testator
in the presence of the subscriber as to his last will and testament.
