Last Will & Testament of
Benjamin Hughes

Will and Testament
In the name of God. Amen. I Benjamin Hughes of Liberty Township, Tioga County State of Pennsylvania being sick and weak in body, but of sound Mind. Memory. and Understanding (praised be God for it ) considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and declare this my last Will and Testament in Manner following (that is to say) first and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator and as to ?(marks here)
And first I direct that my body be decently interred in the Briar Hill Cemetery in Liberty Township according to the rites and ceremonies of the Orthodox Church and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life. As to such Estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with I dispose of the same as follows.
After all my just debts is paid
I give and bequeath to my beloved Wife, Mariah. All my household furniture. My Dwelling House my Span? of Horses Wagons Harness etc? Cows Cattle Sheep: Hogs etc? And all monies if any, I also give devise and bequeath to her my said Wife the uses improvement and income of Messange? and tract of land on which my dwelling house is situated Consisting of Eighty Five Acres more or less. (Bordered on the East by Lands of John Messener on the South by Lands of Gus Pequegnot on the North by Lands of Geo Magee. ( Fall Brook Coal Co ) on the West by Lands of Gottleib Crouse and Sarah Hughes and its apartentures to have and to hold during her natural life.
Lastly I appoint my dear Wife Mariah Hughes my sole executor of this my last Will and testament

Benjamin and Mariah are buried in Sebring Cemetery next to his brother Joseph Hughes and wife Sarah.
