Be It Remembered that on this 26th day of October, 1855 John CARPENTER
sole executor named in a paper propounded as the last Will & Testament
of Asa LUCE late of Elmira, filed in the office of the Surrogate of Chemung
County a consent in writing that said will be admitted to probate, signed
by said decedents heirs at law and next of kin and thereupon, ? the Petition
of said John CARPENTER the said will was admitted to probate and with the
proof and examinations taken to record which will and proofs are in the
words and figures following, that is to say:
The Last Will and Testament of Asa LUCE of the town of Horseheads in
the county of Chemung and state of New York. I, Asa LUCE, age 74
years and upwards being of sound mind and memory, Praise be Almighty God,
for the same do make and publish this my last will and thestament in manner
of follows:
First: I give to my daughter, Pamelia, all of my wife clothing all all
of my beads(?) and beding, all that is there at with you. I give
to Aron POTTER my missisal (maybe missal) book. I give and bequeath
Tanessy (??) (or maybe Lanessy)POTTER an ax that you halve now. I
give and bequeath to Daniel M. ELIS one cow, my land warent togehter with
all my personal property. Be it what it may also on Dubel Levin by
Irails Klin and Fudash Whitcom (???). I hereby order that Daniel
ELLIS to pay all my funeral expenses and put up what stones to my grave.
Last I due hereby ? and appoint John CARPENTER, Executor of this my Last
Will and Testament.
In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day
of September, 1855.
