Note: Benjamin was the son-in-law of Daniel Doane and purchased land adjacent to the Doane farm in Windham.

Daniel Doane Indenture to Benjamin Burgess

This Indenture made the seventeenth day of August in the year or our Lord on thousand eight hundred & twenty seven.  Between Daniel Doane of  the township of Windham in the County of Bradford & state of Pennsylvania.  Gentleman of the first part & Benjamin Burgess of said Windham township of the second part Witnessth that the party of the first part for & in consideration of the sum of ninety Dollars lawful money of the United States of America to him in hand paid by the party of the second part & before he sealing & delivering hereof the receipt whereof.  Does hereby acknowledge and thereof acquire & forever discharge the said party of the second part his heirs, executors & administrators by these presents have granted bargained sold, relias & confirm unto the said party of the second part & to his heirs all that certain tract or piece or parcel of land lying & being in the township of Windham & bounded as follows:

Beginning at a birch tree standing at the south corner of a tract of land surveyed on a warrant to Daniel Doane & bearing date _____ thence running north fory via & three fourth degrees west thirty perches to a post thence north forty three degrees and seventy seven perches to post thence north ninety perches to a hemlock stump thence east thirty two perches to bush sapling thence south ninety seven & a half perches to a bush thence south forty three degrees with by land belonging to the estate of Phineas Bond descend to the place of beginning ninety perches containing forty acres and being part of the afore mentioned tract
surveyed to Daniel Doane together with all of singular the rights, liberties, priviledges hereditaments & appurtenances what soever their rents belonging in any win appertaining of the revisions of remain run to ifsoever and profits thereof & also all the water rights, title, interest claim & demand whatsoever of him the said party of the first part in law or equity of into or out of the same.  To have and to hold the said heroditaments of premises hereby granted or mentioned or
intended as to be with appurtenances unto the party of the second part his heirs & aforsigns forever & the said Daniel Doane for himself his heirs & afsigns and against all & every person & persons whomsoever lawfully claiming r to claim the same shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents For witnesth whereof he said party of the first part have hereunto set his hand and seal dated the day of year first above written. Daniel Doane (Seal) Sealed & delivered in the presence of Joseph Webster, Reuban Doane.  Bradford County.  On the seventeenth day of August A.D. one thousand eight hundred & twenty seven before me one of the Justices of the Peace in & for the County of Bradford personally came Daniel Doane and acknowledged the above Indenture to be his free act & deed & desired the same might be recorded as such according to the law. Joseph Webster Justice of the Peace. Recorded Sept 10th A.D. 1827
