I need info on Colonel Henry OLDROYD of Roseville, Tioga County.  He was born in Kisburton, West Ridan, Yorkshire, England in Nov. of 1814.  He died 4 June 1876 in Tioga County.  He emigrated to the US on June 10, 1829.  I have no idea where the "Colonel" came from.  He married Alma BECKWITH and had 9 children - Roxy, Elizabeth, Edward, Mason, Judson, Henry, Jr., Terrence, Harriet, and Margaret (the youngest).  Roxy is my ancestor.

Alma BECKWITH was born 20 Jan. 1818 in NY and died 2 Feb. 1876 in Tioga County.  She was the daughter of Samuel BECKWITH and Hannah ENGLISHI'm missing information about the parents of these ancestors.  Any info will be greatly appreciated.

From:    master@cnconline.net (David H. Carpenter)
To:    PABRADFO-L@rootsweb.com

I am searching for information on the parents of Levi MILLER b. 1863/4 and married Cora May STRADLEY b.1872, d. 1918 who was the daughter of Samuel and Esther (ROWE) STRADLEY in 1889.  They had 11 children starting in 1890 and ending around 1905.  1908 Directory has Levi and Cora in Delmar township.  Cora shows up as a servant in a Wellsboro home on the 1910 census, no mention of Levi anywhere.

They had daughters: Rosella MILLER (b. 1891) who married Edward HORTON (b. 1885) in 1908, they lived in Wellsboro and had 2 children Iola (b. 1909) and Dorothy (b. 1912); Minnie MILLER (b.1890) who married Lewis C. HANCOCK from Scranton, PA in 1906;  Tessie MILLER (b. 1894) who married Everitt DeLONG in 1909; Esther (MILLER) KNOWLTON (b. 1896) who married Howard N. CARPENTER (b. 1863) in 1927, they lived in Delmar and had 2 children, Esther G. (b. 1928) and Howard C. (b. 1938)...  Other children of Levi and Cora are:  Alfred (b. 1892), Margaret (b. 1898), John (b. 1900), Irene (b. bef. 1905), Izora (b. bef. 1905).  Of the 11 children, 9 were still alive by 1910 census 1 died before 1900, but unsure of the name.

Again, I am looking for any information mainly on Levi MILLER, when and where he died, his parents, etc..... but would like any information on any of the other children besides Esther (MILLER) KNOWLTOIN who married H. N. CARPENTER who is my grandmother.

Subj:  [Tri-Counties] Tioga: SHORT CROWL WILKINSON
Date:  9/30/2001 3:55:08 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From:    tim-nenno@rcn.com (Tim Nenno)
To:    PABRADFO-L@rootsweb.com

I'm trying to track down a 3rd-great-grandmother, Mary A.SHORT, born 10/1832, married Asaph WILKINSON in 1851 or1852.

In the November 1850 Charleston census, she was living with Joel CROWL, her stepfather.

Joel's wife Marinda had died in February 1850. (Joel soon remarried, to his son Zenas's mother-in-law, Nancy HENRY.)

Joel and Marinda had a daughter, Mariah CROWL, born May
1841.

Mariah was half-sister to Nancy Jane SHORT, born 1827.

In the 1840 Delmar census, Joel was living with two young sons, but no wife.

That's all I've been able to patch together from census records, bible entries, and newspaper clippings.

Marinda, then, must've been married to a SHORT man, Nancy and Mary's father, from before 1827 until sometime before 1840, when she married Joel. I've tried working through the many SHORTs in the county to see who died in the right timeframe, but no luck. Some web sources show a Marinda MACE and Asaph SHORT as being Nancy Jane's parents, but the dates don't pan out.

Anyone connected with these people who could tell me Marinda's maiden name and which SHORT she married?

Thanks!

I am looking for descendants of Henry Alfred Eddy who was born in New Albany, Bradford County 5/31/1821 or any of his siblings: Robert Eddy, James Madison Eddy (b. 4/01/1839), George Washington Eddy, Sally Ann Eddy, Densay Eddy, Martha Angeline Eddy or Ruth Eddy (all children of Jacob Eddy and Sarah Nichols. I am a descendant of Henry Alfred and our EDDY line has a rare genetic disorder called Nail Patella Syndrome which involves deformities of the fingernails (especially the thumbs), small or missing knee caps, bent elbows and a number of other abnormalities. With the help of several other EDDY descendants, I have traced the NPS back as far as Samuel (b. 5/15/1608).
If you think you might have NPS or know of a family member who does, you can find out more about it on my website at:  http://hometown.aol.com/PACALI/npspage.html  I would enjoy hearing from any other EDDY family member who also has NPS. I would also be interested in sharing genealogy with other EDDY descendants. Thank you Joyce for giving us this opportunity to post our genealogy.
Sincerely,
Carol Ferensak
P.S. I have also listed Tioga County in the header because I recently found one more distant relative there, although she is the only one I know of so far).

Hello,
I am looking for information about Joseph Wills.  He came to Troy, Bradford County about 1820.  I believe he owned a mill in town.  Family records say he was born in 1753 and died in 1848.  His wife, Mary was born approx 1757-1758 and died 15 Feb 1829.  She is buried in Glenview cemetery in Troy but, I have not been able to find Joseph's burial site.
Joseph and Mary Wills had a daughter also named Mary.  She Married William Phillips.  I do not know if he was ever a resident of Troy.  I believe he was from the Philadelphia area.  When Troy was a young town there was supposedly a Phillips who had a Hotel there.  I have never been able to find a first name for him.  I do have a set of china that were my g-g-grandmothers.  Some of the pieces say Troy Hotel.  Mary and William's son Joseph Phillips did live in Troy.  He had a farm there.  Story goes that the farm was bought to keep the Black sheep of the family out of trouble and out of sight. Since Joseph is the first one I can find a record of living there, I am assuming that he was the "black sheep." According to census info, Mary Wills Phillips and William Phillips were born in England.   Any info would be greatly appreciated and I am happy to reciprocate and share.
