cemetery, as they are presented here, is like reading the multi-generational
history of a community. These people were the local populace at a particular
time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives
and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade"
or business.
All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. KENNETH E. KILBURY JR. age 49 of 309 Bowers Drive, Horseheads, Tuesday, March 22, 1977 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, Horseheads Friday from 7 t6o 9 p.m. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads. Those wishing may make memorials to either the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Dialysis Program of the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary (Richards) Kilbury; daughter, Cynthia; son, Richard; father, Kenneth E. Kilbury, Sr. of Stephens Mills, N.Y.; sister, Mrs. Edna Sutfin of Canisteo; several nieces and nephews. KINCH - NOWACZYK, Mary K.
Age 71, of Wygant Rd., and formerly a longtime resident of Briarcliff
Dr., Horseheads, NY, died after an extended illness on Wednesday, April
18, 2007, at home surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 20, 1935
in Canton, PA, the daughter to the late Erastis and Avina Kinch. Her surviving
family includes her husband of 50 years, Tony Nowaczyk; sons and daughters-in-law,
Scott (Cheryl) Nowaczyk of Horseheads, NY, Gary (Becky) Nowaczyk of Port
Deposit, MD, Rick (Debbie) Nowaczyk, also of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren,
Ellen (Elijah) Prokop, Alex and Samantha Nowaczyk; Chris Nowaczyk and A.J.
Nowaczyk; and brother, Jerry (Diane) Kinch of Sayre, PA. Mary was also
predeceased by her brother, Bill Kinch. Mary was a retired RN at the Arnot
Ogden Medical Center. She retired there in 1992 having worked the majority
of her career in the Cardiac Care Unit. She was a devoted wife, mother,
and grandmother. In addition to caring for her family, she also enjoyed
gardening and canning. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber
Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, on Saturday, April 21, 2007,
from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm. Her service will take place privately at the
convenience of her family with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery. In recognition
of the wonderful care she received, those wishing may also remember Mary
with memorials to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning,

KIRKENDALL - Mrs. Maude L. Bush, 70, of 311 Eleanor St., Horseheads, formerly of the Ithaca Rd., Horseheads, this morning, Jan. 12, 1956. She was a member of the Horseheads First United Methodist Church and the Pomona and Horseheads Granges. Survived by daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Wilson of Hammondsport, Mrs. Grace Moore and Mrs. Doris Beardslee of Horseheads; sons, Fred of Warrensburg, N. Y., Ralph of Cayuta and Oakley Bush of Horseheads; brother Howard Kirkendall of Sabinsville, Pa.; sisters, Mrs. Lou Baker and Mrs. Oca Monroe, both of Ulysses, Pa.; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 64, a resident of the Latta Brook Rd., Town of Elmira, died unexpectedly
Saturday morning. Oct. 29, 1938, while walking from the home of a neighbor
to his own home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Kiser, two sons,
Charles Jr., at home; John of Ellensville, N.Y., a stepson, Daniel Roberts
of Elmira Heights; two brothers, Thomas of Ohio, James of Michigan; 11
grand children. The body is in the Van Buskirk funeral home, Horseheads,
where the funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Maple Grove Cemetery,

KISER Charles A. Jr.
38, of the Latta Brook Rd., Horseheads, died at 3:10 a.m. Friday, Nov.
1, 1940, at a local hospital. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Hazel Kiser; three
daughters, Jennie, Lorraine & Joann, & a son, Edward, all at home;
his mother, Mrs. Charles Kiser Sr., also at home; a brother, John Kiser,
Coxsackie, N.Y.; a half-brother, Daniel S. Roberts, 160 Robinwood Ave.,
Elmira Heights, & several nieces & nephews. The body was taken
to the VanBuskirk funeral home in Horseheads & later will be removed
to the Roberts home in Elmira Heights, where the funeral will be held at
2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. J.D. McDanel officiating. Burial in Maple Grove
Cemetery, Horseheads.
KISER ELEANOR
Eleanor, the infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. C. Kiser, Jr., of 111
Broad street, Horseheads, died Monday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock. Aged four
months. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 o’clock. Burial in Maple
Grove cemetery Horseheads. - Eleanor Kiser died July 17, 1922.
KISER Fannie Mae
Mrs. Leonard Cherry died Tuesday evening at the family home in Horseheads
after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband; two daughters,
Mrs. Alice Squires & Mrs. George Erle; a son, Leo, all of Horseheads;
a sister, Mrs. Arden Austin of Hunters Creek, Mich.; four brothers, Thomas
Kiser, Toledo, O.; George of Milford Mich.; Harry & Charles of Horseheads.
The remains repose in the Chilson & Shields funeral home until Thursday
morning. The funeral will be held at the family home on upper Lake Street,
Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. C. W. Newman will officiate. Burial in Maple
Grove Cemetery, Horseheads.- Fannie died July 10, 1928
KISER FRED
Fred Kiser, 39, of the Town of Veteran died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday,
Mar. 22, 1941, at a local hospital. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Flora Kiser;
four daughters, Margaret, Joyce, Beverly & Geraldine; two sons, Donald
& William, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Jenkins of Horseheads,
& a brother, Daniel of Elmira. The body is in the VanBuskirk funeral
home, Horseheads. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the
family home. The Rev. Ralph T. Chaffee of Millport will officiate. Burial
will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads.
KISER George J.
George James Kiser of 563 East Water street died this morning at 9:30
o’clock after an extended illness aged nineteen years. He is survived by
his mother, Mrs. Bessie Sophia, two brothers, Barnard & Edward Kiser,
all of Elmira. The remains repose in the Davis undertaking rooms where
the funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Burial in the Maple Grove cemetery.

KISER HIRAM - HARRY J.
Hiram J. Kiser 67, of Ithaca St., Horseheads, died unexpectedly Friday,
Sept. 30, 1938 at 8:30 a.m. He was engaged in working in a corn field,
when he suffered a heart seizure & died before assistance could be
rendered. Mr. Kiser is survived by his wife, Mrs. Henrietta Kiser; a son
Harry of Horseheads; five daughters, Mrs. Walter Acker, Mrs. Frank McAtee,
Mrs. Victor Smith, Miss Loretta Kiser all of Horseheads; Mrs. Grant Kitchen
of N. Rose, N.Y., three brothers, Charles of Horseheads, Thomas of Toledo,
O., George of Michigan; seven grandchildren. The body is in the VanBuskirk
funeral home, Horseheads & late Friday evening will be removed to the

KISER Ivan H.
Age 80, of Horseheads, NY, died peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital
on Monday morning, February 16, 2009. Ivan was born April 21, 1928, in
Horseheads, NY, to the late Harry Edward and Cecelia (Ostrander) Kiser.
He retired from the Horseheads School District after 33 years of dedicated
service, and was a longtime farmer. Ivan is survived by his loving and
devoted wife of 58 years, Joan (Moore) Kiser; two daughters, Susan (David)
Hawley and Cherie (Randy) Brown, both of Horseheads, NY; four grandchildren,
and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Larabee, his twin of
Horseheads, NY, and Carrie Mizio of Big Flats, NY; and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. It was the family's request that there be no services.
Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Maple Grove
Cemetery, Horseheads, NY. Arrangements are entrusted to Sullivan's Funeral
Home.

The funeral of James Kiser Jr. was held at the family home on the Lake
street road near Center Mills this afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Mr.
Martin officiated & burial was in Maple Grove cemetery at Horseheads.-

KISHBAUGH George O.
Age 84, of Horseheads, NY, died very unexpectedly on Thursday morning,
December 10, 2009. George was born January 31, 1925 in Laceyville, PA,
a son of the late George and Beatrice Rogers Kishbaugh. He served his country
honorably with the US Army during WWII. "Big George," as he was called,
retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Horseheads after 35 years. George was
an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter, gardener and all around handy guy. He
is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Garey Kishbaugh; sons, Robert
"Bob" (Cheryl) Kishbaugh of Horseheads and Edward "Eddie" (Leora) Kishbaugh
of Elmira; grandchildren, Greg Kishbaugh of Horsehead, Laurie (Aaron) Luckette
of Horseheads, Lisa (Matt) Materne of Grand Prairie, TX and Kelly Kishbaugh
of Elmira; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Ed) Johnson of Towanda,
PA and Norma Smith of Buffalo, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His other siblings predecease him. The family would like to invite relatives
and friends to a gravesite service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads,

KLESA
Fordyce J. "Ford" Age 85 of Horseheads, NY died peacefully at home
on Thursday afternoon, April 13, 2006, surrounded by his loving family.
Ford was born on April 4, 1921 in Sweden Valley, PA and raised by his grandparents,
Joseph and Minnie Klesa. He was one of the very first building contractors
in the area, building more than 75 homes including the first split level
in Horseheads. Ford is pre-deceased by his son, Gary Lee Klesa. Survivors
include his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Jolina Marian Stermer
of Horseheads, NY; daughter, Linda (Richard) Diane Turner of La Jara, CO,
and son James Joseph Klesa of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren: Vicki, Adam,
Amy, Jennifer, Susannah, Jonathan, Laura, and Katie; eleven great grand
children; brother, Robert (Frances) Rugaber of Rushville, NY; daughter-in-law:
Beth Frycek Klesa of Mt. Pleasant, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

KLINE Carl R. Age 76 of 329 Marshall Street Horseheads, NY died very unexpectedly on Tuesday July 19, 2005 in Cortland, NY where he had been playing golf with his buddies. Carl was born April 20, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late Carl Anthony and Anna Lucas Kline. He was a veteran of The Korean War serving his country with The United Sates Air Force and was a member of The Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 in Horseheads, NY. Carl married his wife, Mary Lou Stuart Kline, on April 2, 1955 and they recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on April 2, 2005. He was an avid golfer and former ranger at The Mark Twain Golf Course. Mr. Kline enjoyed woodworking, archery, and sailing gliders at Harris Hill. He was pre-deceased by his parents; his sisters Rose Watts and Jean Husted; his brother Donald Kline; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Lillian & Joseph Bednarchik. Carl was a former general foreman and retired as Director of Procurement for Schweizer Aircraft in Horseheads, NY. He loved his family and friends and cherished the time he spent with them especially his grandchildren. KLINE Reuben A. Jr.
Age 78 of 108 Philo Road West in Elmira, NY died on Monday June 23,
2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Reuben was born on April
25, 1930 in McClure, PA the son of the late Reuben A. and Elsie Mae Cosgrove
Kline. Mr. Kline was a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country with
the U.S. Army. He married his loving and devoted wife Barbara L. McCann
Kline on March 5, 1955 and they recently celebrated their 53rd Wedding
Anniversary on March 5, 2008. Mr. Kline was a retired welder for the Thatcher
Glass Company in Elmira, NY. He and his wife Barbara delivered the Elmira
Star Gazette for several years. Reuben loved baking, gardening, woodworking
and building tables, chairs, cradles, rocking horses, and toy boxes for
his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and eleven
brothers and sisters. Reuben loved his family and friends and treasured
the time he spent with everyone. Mr. Kline is survived by his wife Barbara
L. McCann Kline; mother-in-law: Ethel M. Combs of Elmira, NY; daughters
and sons-in-law: Marian and Michael Ameigh of Watkins Glen, NY; Penny and

KNAPP –MRS. HENRY STOOKS died yesterday (Aug. 28, 1918) at 2 o’clock age 66 years. She is survived by her husband and five daughters; Mrs. J. W. Forest of Montour Falls, Mrs. Earl Knapp, Canandaigua, Mrs. Harry Carlyle of Horseheads, Mrs. Edward Bundy, Horseheads, Mrs. Lawrence Truesdall, Horseheads and two sons, George Stooks of Hornell and Walter Stooks of New London, Conn.; one sister, Mrs. John Vanderberg of Van Etten and one brother, Donald Knapp of Van Etten. KNAPP Boyd R. "Bud"
Age 83, of Sing Sing Rd., Horseheads, and formerly longtime resident
of Colonial Dr., Horseheads, NY, passed after an illness on Wed., Oct.
10, 2007. Bud was born March 12, 1924 in Elmira, NY, the son of Albert
and Nellie (Rouse) Knapp. He is survived by wife of 63 years, Josephine
(VantZelfde) Knapp; daughter, Bonnie Tressler of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren,
Timothy Tressler of Rochester, NY; sisters, Doris Payne of Watkins Glen,
NY, Vada Price of Wellsboro, PA; several nieces and nephews. Bud was also
predeceased by his sister, Thelma Stafford; brothers, Glen Niles and Larry
Niles. Bud was retired from the Heat Treating Division of Bendix Eclipse.
After retirement he remained active owning and operating with his wife
Travel Trailer Sales, "Bud's Trailer Sales" on Colonial Dr. in Horseheads,
was a longtime maintenance worker with Willow Creek Golf Course in Big
Flats, and in his earlier years was a member of the Horseheads Town and
Country Fire Department. Family and friends are invited to call at the
Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, on Sat. from 11:00-1:00
p.m., where his service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow
in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may express

Darla Knapp Age 58, of Veteran, died peacefully at home on Friday,
September 22, 2006. She was born July 31, 1948 in Elmira, New York, the
daughter of the late Ross and Mary (Stropes) Knapp. Darla is survived by
her son, Michael (Mary Ann) VandeBogart of Horseheads; daughter, Stephanie
(Carmen) Stola of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Karen Tompkins of Elmira Heights;
son, John Simons of Syracuse, NY; grandsons, Carmen Stola and Christopher
Tompkins; granddaughter, Paige Tompkins; sisters, Nancy (Darold) Champaign
of Wellsburg, NY, Shirley Blasingan of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Joan (Frank)
Stevens of Mt. Pleasant, TN; brothers, Thomas (Sandy) Knapp of Pine City,
NY, Gordon (Brenda) Knapp and Ross Knapp, both of Lawrenceburg, TN; special
friend, Henry Heineman; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased

Of Lodi Point, NY, and recently of Scenic View Nursing Facility, Montour
Falls, NY, died on Sunday morning, January 6, 2008. Doris was born March
19, 1923, a daughter of the late Albert and Nellie Rouse Knapp. She was
employed by Bendix, and later a full time homemaker and mother. Doris was
well known for her cooking, homemade pies, and her never ending knitted
sweater sets, Afghans and etc. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Alton
C. Payne on November 16, 2007; grandson, Dean C. Guyer; and her siblings,
Lawrence Niles, Glenn Niles, Thelma Niles Stafford and Boyd Knapp. Doris
is survived by her children, Donna Guyer of Cape Coral, FL, Gary Payne
of Erin, NY, and Ronald (Peggy) Payne of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Douglas,
Jennifer, Carolyn and Christopher; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Vada
Niles Price of Wellsboro, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

KNAPP –ELOISE K. (KNAPP) VAN KIRK, age 87, of E. Franklin St., Horseheads, NY, on Wednesday, October 15, 1997 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Elmira, NY. Mrs. Van Kirk was born July 3, 1910 in Wells Township, PA, the daughter to the late George and Lucy (Rutan) Knapp. She was predeceased by her husband, George M. Van Kirk in 1982. Her survivors include her sister-in-law Marion Knapp of Columbia Cross Roads, PA and several close and caring dear friends. A long-time Horseheads resident, Eloise was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Horseheads and a member of the Deborah Hannah Circle there. Mrs. Van Kirk was a retired teacher in the Horseheads Central School District, where she had taught first grade at both Big Flats and Broad Street Elementary Schools and later retired as a reading specialist at Sing Sing Road School. She was a Mansfield State Teachers College Alumni and active member of the Board of Directors of the AARP. Eloise was also a member of the State and Local Teachers Assoc. and the Business and Professional Women Assoc. where she was honored as BPW Woman of the Year in 1987. Age 64 of 201 Segar Road Horseheads, New York died on Wednesday January
16, 2008 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Bob was born June
11, 1943 in Glasgow, Montana the son of the late Robert L. and Wilma L.
Cox Knapp. He was a retired machinist from Thomas & Betts in Horseheads,
NY after several years of dedicated service. Bob was a member of Horseheads
Elks Lodge #2297 and The Southport Fire Department. He was an avid hockey
fan and worked in "The Penalty Box" for The Elmira College Soaring Eagles
Hockey Teams. Bob was also an avid Notre Dame University and San Francisco
49er's fan. He and Becky loved camping, especially with their very good
friend, Brooks and Janet Liddiard. Bob and his wife Becky owned and operated
Mineral Health of Horseheads, NY. Bob is survived by his loving and devoted
wife Rebecca E. Cortright Knapp; his children: Robert L. Knapp III and

KOEHLER Ernest C. Of Horseheads, NY, died Monday morning, June 27, 2005, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ernie was born on November 2, 1932, the son of the late Ernest and Helen Koehler. Ernie was employed by Artistic Greetings for 17 years, A&P for 17 years, and a retiree from the Horseheads School District Transportation Dept. after 12 years. His passions included being a Horseheads Little League coach, manager, and Board Member for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Horseheads and a member of the Horseheads Elks BPO # 2297. He married Donna J. Sadler on January 21, 1950. He was also pre-deceased by his brother, William Hurd. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife for over 55 years, Donna J. KOHBERGER William F. Sr.
Age 83 of Horseheads, NY died on Friday May 8, 2009. William was born
on January 17, 1926 in Williamsport, PA the son of the late Fritz and Rose
B. Seemen Kohberger. Mr. Kohberger was a Veteran of WWII serving his country
with the U.S. Marine Corps. Bill married his wife Anneliese Stabler Kohberger
on March 12, 1950 and she pre-deceased him on July 25, 1999. He was also
pre-deceased by his grandson Andrew Todd Slusser. Bill was a retired Corrections
Officer with the NYS Department of Corrections in Elmira, NY. He was a
member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Horseheads and a member of the
Horseheads American Legion Post #442. Bill was an avid hunter and golfer
and had a Hole-in-One at Willow Creek Golf Course. He loved farming and
was very proud of his corn and lima beans. Bill especially loved his family
and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Mr. Kohberger is
survived by a very special friend and companion, Fini Martin; his sons
and daughters-in-law: William and Cathy Kohberger of Horseheads, NY; Michael

Age 78, of Matthews Circle in Horseheads, died Dec. 24, 2009
at Elcor Health Center. Bill was born May 23, 1931 in Horseheads, NY, the
son of the late Leon and Maybelle (Struble) Kole. His surviving family
includes his wife of 53 years, Catherine (Zawko) Kole; sons and daughter,
David (Sally) Kole of Southern Shores, NC, Pamela (Stephen) Wilber of Horseheads,
NY, Kevin Kole of Millport, NY; grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Kole,
Melissa (Josh) Amato and Nicole Wilber; sister and brother, Agnes Evans
and Richard (Kathy) Kole, all of Horseheads; several cousins, nieces, nephews
and many friends. Bill was also predeceased by his siblings, Shirley Andrews
and Fritz Abbey. Born and raised in Horseheads, Bill was a veteran of the
Korean War serving in the US Army. He worked many years for National Homes
and Flickinger's. After his retirement, he remained active, working as
a dispatcher for the Horseheads Village Police Department. Bill was truly
a "man-about-town" giving a helping hand to many. He was a craftsman around
the house, building countless play forts, home improvements and general
carpentry for family and friends. Family and friends are invited to call

Albina L. "Beanie" "A Special Lady" Age 87 of Horseheads, NY died on
Thursday September 1, 2005. Mrs. Sabatura was born June 27, 1918 in Morris,
PA the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Augustyn Kordyl. She married
her husband, Michael J. Sabatura, who pre-deceased her on April 3, 1997.
Albina was also pre-deceased by 11 brothers and sisters. Beanie and her
husband owned and operated Moxie's Bar & Grill in Elmira for several
years. She was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads
and retired from Ann Page in Horseheads, NY. Mrs. Sabatura is survived

her parents; special aunt and caregiver, Madeline Miller, who raised her
after her parents died; brother, Robert Krebs; and sisters, Madeline Krebs,
Alice Rider and Eleanor Miller. She is survived by her husband of 48 years,
Leonard J. Gray; children and their spouses, Karen M. Wida of Erin, Scott

Manor. She was born in Elmira, NY on December 9, 1915 to the late Wasyl
and Catherine (Roman) Lashiw. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Stuard
Freeland; brothers, John and Peter Lashiw and sisters, Nellie Kowulich
and Annie Whiting. Survivors include her son, Mark (Margaret) Freeland
of NJ; grandchildren, Michele Freeland of NJ and Michael Freeland of PA;
great-grandson, Patrick McKell of NJ; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Jack) Slocum

LATTIN - LINTAL, Julia A.
Lifetime resident of Horseheads, NY, was born July 29, 1920 in Horseheads,
the daughter of the late Homer and Grace Mallory Lattin, died peacefully
surrounded by her family on Sat., Feb. 7, 2009, at age 88. Julia was predeceased
by her husband, Edward R. Lintal, on June 22, 1971. Julia graduated from
Horseheads High School in 1938, met and married her husband, Ed, on February
3, 1943. Mrs. Lintal was employed by the S.F. Iszard Company for many years,
was a member of the First United Methodist Church on Broad Street in Horseheads
and an avid and devoted New York Yankee fan. Julia will be lovingly remembered
by sons and their families, Richard Lintal, Horseheads, NY, David (Deborah)
Lintal of State College, PA, and Donald (Ellen) Lintal of Aiken, SC. She
is also survived by four beloved grandchildren, Marc (Gina) Lintal of Harrisburg,
PA, Matt (Jackie) Lintal of Lewisburg, PA, Michael and James of Aiken,

June 1, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Scriven was
born on January 30, 1920 the twin daughter of the late Paul and Blanche
Bowers Leonard. She married her husband, Edward H. Scriven, who pre-deceased
her on August 1, 1982. Mrs. Scriven was a retired employee of Corning Glass
Works in Corning , NY and member of the Glass Blowers' Union. She was a
member of The Full Gospel Church of Catlin Center, a member of the Big
Flats American Legion Post # 1612 Auxiliary and Women of The Moose Chapter
#1401 of Montour Falls, NY. Susie was pre-deceased by her parents, her
husband, her son Gilbert "Joe" Scriven in 1999, her grandson Skipper Kincaid
and her twin sister Sarah Petticrew Shepherd on April 4, 2005. She was

U.S. Air Force Retired
Age 86 of Waldorf, MD died on Friday September 21, 2007. Mr. Lewish
was born on January 16, 1921 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Gregory
and Tekla Dmytriw Lewish. He was a Veteran of WWII and Korea serving his
country for 23 years with the U.S. Air Force where he earned his rank of
Major. He served his military career in Korea, Turkey and the Philippines.
He was instrumental in weather flights during his stay in the Philippines,
making flights during hurricanes. While living in Korea and Turkey he was
involved in establishing long distance radar which was used for spying
on the Russians and other countries. He was a man who enjoyed his career
and traveling around the world. Andrew was pre-deceased by 2 wives Margaret
Kelly Lewish in 1958 and Tammy Erenyol Lewish in 1988; three brothers and
one sister; and his parents. Mr. Lewish is survived by his brothers and
sisters-in-law: William and Diane Lewish; Daniel and Marjorie Lewish; sisters
and brothers-in-law: Helen Covey; Catherine and Harry Sharak; Ann and Jack
Cassidy; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends

CRAIG D. LLOYD, 24, OF Little Falls, NY, formerly of Horseheads, NY died very unexpectedly on April 25, 1995, as the result of an automobile accident. Craig was born Aug. 9, 1970, in Elmira. He was a 1989 graduate of Horseheads High School and on Aug. 1, 1992, he graduated from the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, School of Radiology. Since that time Craig was employed by Little Falls Hospital, where he worked as a Cat Scan technician. Outside the love for his wife Lisa, and their recent marriage, Craig was a devoted outdoorsman and avid fisherman who was always at home in the woods tracking turkey or fishing in the streams. He was an enthusiast of all of the field and stream, and his presence will be missed by all. Look. She was retired from the bank in Painted Post with 30 years of service.
She graduated from Painted Post High School. She was a member of the Corning

LOOMIS Roland L. "Ron" Age 76 of 188 Overlook Drive Horseheads, NY died on Monday, August 14, 2006, at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Ron was born August 27, 1929 in Elmira Heights, NY, the son of the late Roland E. and Florence M. Smith Loomis. He was a Veteran of The Korean War, serving his country with The U.S. Army as a paratrooper with both the 504th and 187th Parachute Infantry Regiments from 1947-1951, and receiving a Purple Heart for wounds sustained during battle. He married his first wife, Lucille A. Crane Loomis, on February 15, 1958, and she pre-deceased him on July 24, 1993. Ron left his employment with Westinghouse Corporation in Horseheads in 1959 and enrolled in Michigan State University. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree graduating magna cum laude in 1962 and began his 25 year career with Corning Glass Works as Director of Corporate Security. Ron was a member of The American Society for Industrial Security for over 30 years, holding many offices including the National Board of Directors. Upon retirement in 1987 he restored a red 1966 Mustang GT convertible from the frame up. He enjoyed driving and showing his car in various car shows receiving numerous awards locally and nationally. Mr. Loomis was pre-deceased by his parents, his first wife Lucille, his nephew Philip Wolcott, who was killed in an airplane accident in 1979 , and by his uncle Allen " Sonny" Packard . Ron married his wife , Grace M. Robbins Vanderhoff Loomis, on August 9 , 2003 and they recently celebrated their 3rd Wedding Anniversary on August 9, 2006. Mr. Loomis is survived by his wife Grace M. Robbins Vanderhoff Loomis; son and daughter-in-law: Marc R. & Catherine "Kate" Frisk Loomis of Horseheads, NY; daughter: Lori Allen and her fiancé Stephen Wood of Horseheads , NY; grandchildren: Jonathon J. LOVELL - Mrs. Mary Ostrander
The death of Mrs. Mary Ostrander aged forty-eight years occurred in
the town of Big Flats yesterday. She is survived by her husband, Wesley
Ostrander & four children. George J., Catherine, Frank L., & Ella
Louise. The funeral will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 2
o’clock. Rev. Murray H. Gardner, of Horseheads, will officate. The interment
will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at Horseheads.
LOVENDOSKI ANNA L JOHNSON
Anna L. Age 96, formerly of Pine Valley, NY, died Wednesday, December
20, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY. Anna was born on June
25, 1910 in Arnot, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Lovendoski.
Anna worked as a weaver for the John N. Sterns Silk Co. in Elmira for many
years. Anna will always be remembered as a fabulous cook with a great sense
of humor. She was a very kind and generous lady and will be missed by her
family and friends. Survivors include sons, Carl (Camille) Johnson of Dothan,
AL, and Howard (Ruth) Johnson Jr. of Titusville, FL; six grandchildren
and many great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Anna
was predeceased by her husband, Howard Johnson Sr. in 2003 after 71 loving
years. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, December 28, 2006,
from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in St.
Casmir's Church with Father Scott Kubinski as Celebrant. Committal prayers
and interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
LUBNOW - NOBLE Emma A.
Age 88 of Horseheads, NY died on Wednesday June 6, 2007. Mrs. Noble
was born April 6, 1919 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Ernst and
Ida Sieg Lubnow. Emma married her husband, Louis J. Noble, who Pre-deceased
her on June 10, 1964. She was also pre-deceased by her sons Robert Lewis
Noble who died on September 28, 1951 and Ronald R. Noble who died on December
23, 2006 and her brother Adolf H. "Otto" Lubnow and her sister Frieda Lubnow.
Emma was a member of The First Church of Christ in Elmira. Emma loved her
family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Mrs. Noble
is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Donald E. & Karen Noble
of Cortland, NY; Mary (Mrs. Ronald R.) Noble of Elmira NY; William L. &

Sieg Lubnow. She was a retired housekeeper at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Elmira, NY. Minnie had worked at Artisitic Card, Eclipse, and Remington
Rand prior to going to work at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was pre-deceased
by her husband James E. Brick Sr., her parents, her brother Adolph H. "Otto"
Lubnow, her sisters Frieda Lubnow and Emma Noble, her nephew Ronald Noble,
and her daughter-in-law Virginia A. Brick. Minnie was a life-time member
of The First Church of Christ in Elmira, NY. She loved her family and friends
and treasured the time she spent with them. Minnie loved her trips to the
casinos and her scratch-off tickets. Minnie is survived by her son: James

Age 76, of Horseheads, NY, died peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2007,
at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born on August 29, 1930 in Elmira,
NY, to the late Bernard and Catherine (Short) Luke. Margaret was predeceased
by her daughter, Cathy Force in 2004. Survivors include her loving husband
of 57 years, John Force of Horseheads; sons, Patrick Force of Horseheads
and John Force of Erin; daughter-in-law, Joann Force of Elmira Heights;
granddaughter, Kristin Force; grandsons, Jeremy, Shaun, Chad and Ryan Force;
sister-in-law, Edda Force of Elmira. It was Margaret's wish that there
be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass
of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 20th, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles
Borromeo Church with Father Jeremiah Moynihan as celebrant. Interment will
