Mrs. Eli Tong, (Phoebe Miller) of Route 3, out of this boro, has received the following letter from her brother, Ray, who is overseas:
November 22, 1918
Dear Sister:
I thought I would write an let you folks know how I am.  I am well and hope that this will find you folks all the same.  I received your letter that was mailed September 30 all o.k.  I have received two letters from pa.  I see Wade Judge everyday over here.  He asks me if I hear from Home.  I will be glad to get home again where I can have piece of pie and a cake to eat.  I tell you and Eli I will be a good boy and do anything pa asks me to do.  I will have a bank account when I arrive home I have got over $100 and have just got my pay for September tonight.  I got about $28.50 tonight, and they owe me yet two months’ pay.  I was going to send it home, but I think we are going to sail soon, so I will keep it until I arrive.  I am sending you a Christmas card.  I wrote to (newspaper clipping ends here).
