Migrants from Wells Township
to Medina, Ohio

The Migration To Medina County, Ohio From Wells Township, Bradford County,
Pennsylvania

In the early 1830’s, several families removed from Wells Township, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania and traveled west to Medina County, Ohio. The majority
of these families settled in Homer Township. Their route of travel, the
extent of the number of families, and which year(s) each family arrived
in Ohio we are not entirely informed of. The families included Atkins,
Campbell, Goff, Husted, Judson, Kelly, Knapp, McLean, Osgood, Reed, Rowley,
and Voorhees.
Perhaps the earliest family to remove to Homer Township was Solomon
and Huldah Goff. Solomon last appears on the 1831 assessment list of Wells,
which was compiled in late fall of 1830, which may indicate they removed
from Wells in 1831. Solomon was a Revolutionary soldier and his pension
application, dated 8 July 1833 Medina County, Ohio, stated two daughters
had married and moved to Medina County and he removed there to be near
them.
Bethuel Goff, Luman Goff, Benjamin S. Judson, Samuel Judson, Ithamar
Judson, Isaac Judson, Charles Knapp, Thomas Osgood, George Rowley, and
Ananias Rowley all appear on the 1834 assessment list of Wells, compiled
in the fall of 1833 and do not appear in 1835.
In 1840, the following families who had resided in Wells or with family
connections to Wells were enumerated in Homer Township.
