Deed of Land for Wood Cemetery 1838

Seth WOOD and Elizabeth WILSON deeded land in 1838 to the community for the burial ground now known as the Wood Cemetery. In present times, many have called this the Rutland Hill Cemetery. It is not in Rutland, the land was given by the Wood family, and most burials there are members of the Wood family. All obituaries in my posession for burials there with one exception, call in the Wood Cemetery. The exception is my ancestor Polly COMFORT Smith whose obituary says Hawley Cemetery which is a mis-speliing of Holly, another of several names assigned to it. Just recently a sign was installed on the hill leading to the cemetery naming it the Rutland Hill Cemetery Road. I hope the publication of this deed will have some influence in correcting that error which I intend to protest.
