Skelton, Thomas |
d Thomas Skelton, of Delmar, was buried last Monday week.
Mr. Skelton was born in the village of Wilberforce, Yorkshire, England
in August 1843 and was brought to this country by his parents, now living
in Delmar, in the year 1844. He enlisted in Co. A, 149th Pa. Vols. in the
summer of 1862, being about 19 years of age. He served faithfully until
May 6, 1864, when he received a gun shot wound in the right arm in one
of the terrible battles of the Wilderness. He was sent back to Washington
and assigned to Finley Hospital. Here he submitted... He was discharged
in the summer of 1865, his wound still not healed. He died the 25th of
May 1867. He was a great but alway patient sufferer. |
