Apr 8, 1884 Died. News from Stony Fork dated Apr 7, 1884. Welman Butler,
an aged and respected citizen, died on the 1st inst. at the house of his
son, John M. Butler, on the farm on which he settled 65 yrs ago. Mr. Butler
was 82 yrs., 5 mos., and 3 das. old on the day of his death. He was born
in New Hampshire, but coming to the "far west" of Pennsylvania at the age
of 16, he passed all except about 2 yrs. of the remainder of his life at
this place.

Jun 24, 1884 News from Stony Fork dated June 21, 1884. Mr. James Butler
of Nebraska, is visiting his friends hereabout and at Chatham. He went
from here with his father, Sumner Butler, 15 years ago. He was then but
7 yrs. of age. The county is almost as new to him as if he had never lived
here, yet a few of the old landmarks, such as the Catlin house, he distinctly
remembers.
