In the 1950s three general stores, also called variety stores or five and dimes, operated on the west side of Mansfield's North Main Street. I have been able to acucmulate some photos from the yearbook ads they sponsored.
Sours Variety Store was the closest to the intersection. Witmore's and Prestons were at the end of the business block in the Rose building which has since burned. Run By Ross Sours and Wanda Bryant Sours. [Ross died 1979 and Wanda in 1989]
Closed by 1978 when a Sporting Goods Store opened in the location.

Wanda BRYANT Sours ran Sours Variety Store on North Main Street for many years Photo from 1954 Carontawan Ad at left 1958 Carontawan Ad below Cummings Jewelers occupies the Sours location in 2010. This is the right side of the Shepard-Bailey Building built in 1906.
